Student Adam Douglas, who recently achieved exceptional A-level results at The Duchess’s Community High School and will begin his degree at the University of Oxford in October, has received a bursary scheme from local manufacturing software company metrology software products ltd (MSP) to assist him with his studies.
Adam, who received an A* for Maths, an A for Further Maths and an A for Physics, will study a Masters Degree in Engineering Sciences at the University of Oxford. “I have always been interested in making things or pulling equipment apart and reassembling it to see how it works. Studying a general engineering degree at University was always my plan and I’m really excited to begin the course,” said Adam.
MSP were impressed by Adam’s general attitude and ability when he spent his school Year 11 work experience placement with the company. Following the placement Adam was invited to work for the company during the school holidays and has spent this summer working full-time as part of their Software Development team.
Peter Hammond, Technical Director at MSP explains:“It has been a pleasure to have Adam back with us for the last few months. He has integrated well with the team, demonstrating exemplary technical aptitude and problem solving skills. We are a growing business, with an ever increasing number of prestigious customers and we have some really interesting projects that we hope Adam can get involved with. These are exciting times for Adam, we are looking forward to supporting him with his studies in every way we can and we all wish him the very best in the forthcoming years.”
Diane Bronze, Maths Teacher at The Duchess’s Community High School commented on Adam’s success: “We are very proud of Adam and his achievements. He is an extraordinary student who has an exceptional understanding of everything mathematical. We hope that his time at the school has played a little part in his success and we wish him well with his exciting future.”
